Playing with Pocket Life with Sam

Eeeekkk…. Cant believe this is the last day of February right? This means we are done with 1/6 of year 2014. Today Sam is sharing my February PL pages that I used February Pocket Life kit and PL embellie kit. I printed all the photos in February and just work on them one by one. Let's look at my pages first:

I didn't have any plans when I started creating. I just know I could work on 16 pieces of 3x4 cards and 16 pieces of 4x6 cards. I didn't even plan the placement of the photos and cards to make sure they look cohesive together. But I love how FUN and UNEXPECTED it turned out!

The white card with 'No. 1' is my favourite 3x4 card in the kit. I love how simple it looks. So I added an airy photo to go along with it. I added a yellow crochet bow (that I have made) on the 'Think Happy' card.

And this is another double spreads with even more filler cards.

I added the sequin pockets that I made with a fox stamp from my supplies to go with the photo next to it. We saw someone caught a civet (luwak, something like a raccoon) in our neighbourhood. So we paid the guy some money and took over the civet to let it go at a jungle nearby. This is definitely something worth PL-ing - how often do you see a civet anyway? ;)

Did you notice the card with yellow background? I actually didn't use much of the alpha sticker sheet (From OCtober Afternoon Daily Flash) that came with the PL Embellie kit this month, So I just trim it down to 2 pieces of 4x6 to use as my PL cards. I think it looks kind of cute with pops of colour!

Thanks for looking! XoXo

BE INSPIRED BY FRAMES

Hello and happy Thursday everyone! It’s Tanya here with you today and I want to share my two projects. They were inspired by pictures with frames I had found on Pinterest.

Image sources:1,2,3,4

I worked with the February Main kit and used some embellishments from February This is My Life Embellishment Kit. I love this photo shot. It was taken by my 5 year old daughter this winter.

I used a large frame from the embellishment kit as a center detail of a pages.

After fixing all fames on a page I added lines with a pen imitating strings.

The second layout is about my little daughter. She’s left-handed as I am and loves to draw as I do as well.

Those green and yellow circles are made with watercolor.
And I also used enamel pop drops to emphasize them.

Have a wonderful day!!!

6x6 Paper Pad with Kasia

Hi! For todays 6x6 paper play I decided to go a bit of my comfort zone and create a very busy and colorful background. You can do it easily with papers which come from the small paper pads as the colours already coordinate but if you want to experiment this tutorial could be also used with any scraps which you have laying around!

I picked some of the 6x6 papers from February Pocket Life kit; glued them and stitched with my sewing machine. I cut them and stitched again creating kind of patchwork.

After I was happy with the result I attached this base to piece of plain cardstock and layered a simple composition with products coming mostly from February Pocket Life kit and Pocket Life embellie kit. I also grabbed some small pieces from the main kit which as you know coordinates perfectly with Pocket Life kits! Here is my finished layout:

What do you usually do with your 6x6 papers? We are always curious to see what you make so make sure to hashtag your creations with #citrustwistkits on Facebook and Instagram

Two Page Layout Tutorial with Melissa

Hello, and happy Tuesday, everyone! Melissa here with your weekly tutorial, and today I'm going to walk you through my process for putting this two-page layout together, using the February kits from Citrus Twist.

swcvii day one with banner.jpg

I started off by choosing a background and briefly considered using two different papers- one patterned and one cardstock. I've used this type of design before, and it works quite well as long as you use something- like strips of patterned paper that span both sides- to tie the two pages together.

I have another layout with a similar mismatched background in this same album, though, so I opted instead to cut the gray star paper down to 11.5" x 11.5" and have it span two sheets of white cardstock, making it the element that ties the background together.

This pile of photos doesn't really have a story behind it- they're just random shots from a day at a Star Wars convention- and I wanted to put them all on one layout to be a wrap-up for the "Day 1" section of the album (I was there for four days!).

The hardest part of a two-page layout for me is the photo arrangement, and I went through three different ones before landing on one that I liked. I started with a large group of photos off to the right, with fewer on the left so I'd have room for my title and journaling. At this point I also picked up a card from the Pocket Life kit and a piece from one of the cut-apart sheets to work in with my photos.

I wasn't entirely happy with the first arrangement, so I tried again, this time going for more of a loose grid that ran in a line across the center of the page. This time I felt like everything was just kind of sitting in the middle with nothing to lead the eye across the page, so I tried one more time...

...and came up with this! The photos in my final arrangement are grouped in sections, and the trio of groupings flows in a loose diagonal up from the bottom left to the top right.

I was finally happy with the photo placement, so I moved on to the next step- adding patterned paper and embellishment layers around and behind the photos. This is the step where you can fill in any awkward gaps in your photo arrangement with little tags, tabs, and more pieces from cut-apart sheets. I also worked a piece of paper from the 6x6 pad in the Pocket Life kit onto the page.

With the basic structure in place, I added my title and a few more embellishments, including the start of a little cluster on the top left. I also worked in one more piece of 6x6 patterned paper under the bottom left cluster of photos.

After that, it took just a few more tiny pieces and some journaling to finish the layout off!

I never really start a two-page layout with a plan, and I generally follow these basic steps every time I make one. I've found that once I find a pleasing photo arrangement, the rest of it comes together quickly!

Inspired by paper flowers with Nina Ostermann

Hi everyone, it´s Nina here on monday to start a new week full of beautiful inspiring projects....
In the last days we had in Germany a little bit of spring feeling and I decorated our house with lots of flowers. This inspired me to use also flowers of a page which are created with papers from the awesome Citrus Twist February Kit in combination with a rosette die.

Every time I use this die I´m totally in LOVE with it and I´m asking myself why I don´t use it more often?! It make scrapbooking pages something special in just a few minutes.....

(All products are included in the kit, I only used some sequins and a half doilie from my stash...)

Whats about you?! Are you also in spring mood?!
Thank you for visiting the Citrus Twist blog today....
